- Neither of them really know how to cook. They love to get microwavable meals and take out and they find their failed attempts funny after a while. Will does however, start to get homesick. So Mike asks Joyce for her recipes, and suprises Will with his own attempt at them, Will instantly starts crying.
- Their dorm is pretty messy, but they conviently move their mess to make *some* walkways. Pens, papers, and laundry are strone about. To-dos and sticky notes that they leave for each other are strone about. If one of them is cleaning, its usually Will. He doesn't mind.
- Mike loves to bother Will when he studies by peaking over, asking dumb questions, or just wrapping himself around him. Will pretends to hate it but he loves it, the few times that Will doesn't respond Mike knows something is up. Whenever thats the case Mike makes him some tea, get some snacks, and is wordlessly present next to him until he's done studying and they go out to treat themselves

- Roomates after their first two years
- Dustin always had a knack for baking because him and his mom had to support themselves and it was a big way of bonding for them, he introduces El to it on a whim and not only does she love it but she excells at it. Their fridge is over flowing with ingredients and left over, their apartment smells like fresh pastries

- Lucas is an amazing cook, his mom emphasized that a good husband can always lend a hand, even in the kitchen. Max usually scrapped by, and never got in the havit of treating herself. Lucas won't let this slide and has her cook with him, he makes sure to splurge on good ingrendients because its what she deserves. When they come back from break Max finally feels confident enough in her skills she makes food for the Sinclairs. They tell her she really is one of them because its so good, she instantly starts crying

- Lucas is usually the one to get out of his head/the house when he becomes too much of a homebody, he protests but it always ends up making him feel better
Byerson
- They love going to museums together, Dustin for the science/history Will for the Art/Culture, always jump at the oppurtunity to incorporate that in their projects if their professors let them

- Roomates for the first two years of college
- Sneak into places they aren't invited to/supposed to be in just to see if they get caught (classes, venues, events), they commit to the bit of the event they're crashing too
Elmike
- He'd tag along to her thrifting trips where she got materials for her club/personal style, after a while he finally admits his interest in the things she's getting and now she helps him develoup his style. Hes still really fucking annoying when they go thrifting together and shows her the dumbest/ugliest things to get a rise out of her, occasionally he ends up buying the items "for the bit"
Henclair
- Roommates for the first two years of college
Henfeild
- They visit pet shelters/dog parks as a pick-me-up even though they're petless, they volunteer during the summer, and they always feed strays (which becomes a problem of random animals following them on campus, higher ups get involved because it causes a scene)
Hopclair
- They both love hiking and try to do it together every couple of weeks to catch up on each others lives.
- They both are slight adreniline junkies. When they find out Max has a fear of heights, they opt to do rollercoasters with each other instead
Madwheeler
- They love to go out driving together. They spend the whole time arguing and talking shit about things that don't matter to let off steam. If one of them gets road rage, the other does too on their behalf, and they end up bonding over that.
Madwise
- They love to go music shopping together. Will gets very opinionated about music and Max loves seeing him be the talkative one for once. They go home and dance to their picks
- They are usually intertwined by the arm and get mistaken as a couple a lot. Neither of them mind the assumption
- They bond over the fact that they're not really "exemplery" like a lot of their friends and peers. They usually confide in each other when classes take a toll on them
Wheelclair
Willel
- They always cover for each other when Joyce gets a bit too helicopter-y
- El has always been a safe space for Will to express his femininity, they bond over the fact that their identities were dictated by others for the majority of their childhood and try to reclaim their style together.
Wheelerson
- They go the library together a lot, Dustin for more science adjacent topics Mike for literary reasons. They both end up checking out an exorbitant amount of books and asking way too many questions to the librarians
Punk/Goth Scene Headcanons
Characters
Dustin Henderson
- Prefers metal shows
- Was obviously brought to the genre by Eddie, was fascinated by the history and elements of nonconformity
- Very invested in metal subgenres, goes throug bands full discographies, always down to info dump
El Hopper
- Impartial on the genre as long as she can dance, does prefer female artists though
Lucas Sinclair
- Impartial on the genre, more interested in Black artists/artists of color across genres
Max Mayfeild
- Prefers punk shows, specifically Riot Grrrl music
- Was instinctively wary of metal/heavy rock music due to her association with Billy, when she comes to New York however she discovers Riot Grrrl and instantly falls in love with the genre
Mike Wheeler
- Prefers punk shows, will go to goth clubs if Will is there
- Used to hate on most alt genres as a kid because it was "too much", began to dabble in it during his rebellious phase to differentiate himself from his parents, ended up resonating a lot with the music and it helped it feel seen
Will Byers
- Prefers goth clubs, will go to punk shows if Mike is there
- His love of goth and punk music both were both introduced to him by Jonathan, he still loves big bands but appretiates local artists in NYC a lot
